Product details
Canesten (Clotrimazole) is a broad-spectrum antifungal medicine used for treating vaginal candidiasis (yeast infections also known as thrush), including those which are recurrent. It works by acting against the growth of the fungi. Vaginal thrush occurs as a result of a fungus called candida albicans. In general, bacteria present in the body can help to keep this yeast at bay. However, should overgrowth of candida albicans occur, the occurrence of a yeast infection is possible.
Typical symptoms of vaginal thrush include:
- Itching and soreness around the entrance of the vagina (itchy labia)
- Vaginal discharge - this is usually odourless and may be thick and white or thin and watery.
- Pain during sex, which may make you worry about having sex.
- A stinging sensation when peeing
How long does it take for Canesten pessary to dissolve?
A pessary will dissolve overnight in the moisture of the vagina. Remember it is important to complete the course of treatment as this will help to prevent the infection from coming back. If your symptoms do not improve within seven days, see your doctor for further advice

Carefully insert the end of the applicator containing the pessary as gently and deeply into the vagina as possible.
Hold the applicator in position and slowly push the plunger with the forefinger until it stops.
